Hot on the heels of this year’s Travel + Leisure It List, Condé Nast upped the ante on its 26th Hot List, inviting editors at all seven worldwide editions to scout and select the best new hotel openings in the world.
Once again, all three new Six Senses properties made the list: Six Senses Fort Barwara – Rajasthan, India, Six Senses Shaharut – Negev Desert, Israel, and Six Senses Ibiza on the island’s magical northern tip.
“The Hot List is widely anticipated as it reveals top trends inspiring today’s travelers,” said Neil Jacobs, Six Senses CEO. “All three openings have taken a leap of faith to break the traditional mold of what’s expected in a hotel or resort in their own way. That’s why it is especially gratifying to see this pioneering spirit and unswerving dedication to hospitality rewarded, even with the challenges of the past two years. It sets the standard, and also our intention going forward.”
“It took almost a decade for this 700-year-old fort to be converted into a 48-suite hotel, but it’s been worth the slog. The spa, in the original women’s palace, blends Ayurveda with Six Senses’ inimitable touch. A commitment to working with local communities is evident everywhere: Local women brew hot masala chai and cook bajra and jowar roti during the day; block-printers and bangle makers set up shop in little corners; fresh nimbu pani detox-drink counters are dotted around the hotel. It is encouraging to see global brands arrive in India so conscious of local heritage and riches, and to strive to imbue their openings with as much of these as possible.”
“Luxury properties have been popping up in Israel, but this posh, remote destination deep in the Negev Desert is easily the standout. Seemingly sewn into a stark ridge, this luxury hotel is a seamless blend of artful pampering and site-specific architecture that has the most beautiful views you’ll ever see. Add in chic, meticulously designed accommodations (a modern fusion of local cultures with an emphasis on Israeli artisanship), an expansive spa, and a host of “experiences,” from hikes and camel rides to guided tours of historic sites, and you have a getaway of biblical proportions.”
“Six Senses Ibiza is a place to truly rest, refuel, and reset. New arrivals enjoy a brief but energizing shamanic smoke-cleansing ceremony before floating down into the hotel proper, an earthy enclave peppered with swaying rattan lanterns and bamboo-clad roofs. The spa is spot-on, the infinity pool sublime, and guests can paddleboard or kayak from a ladder directly into the sea. Minibars are stashed with adaptogens and CBD-infused soft drinks to sip on the private terraces, most of which are furnished with daybeds, dining tables, and moonlike outdoor lamps. Some guests choose to stay a month or more, and it’s not hard to see why.”
