October 23, 2023 - With the largest ski area in the world on the doorstep, and new rail routes to Moûtiers, Six Senses Residences Courchevel in the French Alps offers easy and sustainable access to Les 3 Vallées. If you love your Christmas white, why not add an extra sprinkle of snow-sure joy to the holidays with a magical (and high altitude) winter break?
Beautifully and comfortably furnished residences, designed in the spirit of a French chalet, offer up to five bedrooms and an extraordinary range of fun extras (wine cellar, open fireplace, hot tub, cinema room, hammam, private balconies, and private treatment room). The team makes it super easy to enjoy the mountains without lifting a finger or a ski.
No more traipsing in ski boots with a child under one arm and several pairs of skis, poles, and helmets under the other. The on-site Ski Set shop offers a range of equipment rentals and ski servicing, and everything can be transported to our ski lodge right by La Croisette lift, right next to the main gondolas and button lift to the beginner’s trails. When you’re ready to ski, our shuttle service whizzes you up to the lodge, where our concierge is on hand to help everyone into their boots. The shuttle service is available all day, which comes as a big relief if someone has forgotten a glove or helmet. With heated boot racks and hot chocolate, the lodge is open all day for a quick warm-up, comfort break, or refuel between adventures.
Whether or not you have booked lessons or a ski guide, there are runs to suit all abilities from the main lifts at Courchevel 1850. For the more adventurous, the three north-facing mountain bowls at the top offer the best snow in the area. Halfway down, a collection of smooth, long, perfectly pitched slopes are meticulously groomed and surrounded by peaceful forests. The place for untracked stashes on a snow day is the iconic Grand Couloir next to the Saulire lift, starting at 2,700 meters and skirting the grizzly peaks of the Creux Noirs.
At the top of the Ariondaz gondola, you’ll find the Western Park with covered magic carpets, gentle slopes, and a cowboys and Indians theme with teepees. For teens and keen freestylers, the Family Park is a wonderland of rails, tables and jumps, moguls, boardercross, a big air bag, and more.
The Courchevel 1850 luge run starts at the top of the Grangettes gondola in the town center and descends through the trees into Courchevel Village 1550 with plenty of pretty cafés for a chocolat (or vin) chaud! The track is free to use, you can rent a toboggan from our ski shop, and just ride the gondola back up to our residences when you’re done.
Six Senses Residences Courchevel offers a host of children’s activities beyond the slopes too, including forest hikes, mountain yoga, aqua fit and fun, breathe and stretch, and jump rope in the fitness studio. The new junior spa menu has been specially created as part of our Grow With Six Senses wellness philosophy. Babysitting and nanny services are also available throughout the day and evening; just let us know before you arrive.
To support active family holidays, our fully serviced residences are meticulously designed to prioritize sleep. Bedrooms are spacious and peaceful; many include twin bed or bunk bed configurations for children, and all are kitted out with Naturalmat handmade organic mattresses. We have recently introduced our Sleep With Six Senses program with options from three to seven nights to improve sleep patterns and restore energy levels. New for the season is sound healing, where you can submit to the vibrations as they travel through your body until you’re no longer listening to the sounds but feeling them, triggering a transformation of energy to promote healing. The 60-minute session uses singing bowls, koshi chimes, oceanic drum, and Tibetan bells to send you into a sleepy slumber.
Six Senses Spa Courchevel administers a range of specific treatments tailored to outdoor activities and snow sports. For example, the Arnica and Ginger Hot Oil Massage will prepare you for a peaceful slumber and get you slope ready to shoop shoop the next morning. If you’ve pushed it to your edges, you can combine a restorative deep tissue massage with Normatec leg compression therapy to enhance blood flow and lymphatic fluid removal. To counteract the effects of sun and wind on the face, a 30-minute skin booster facial turns down the glow before heading out for dinner. Many of our biohacking tools with CBD oils and balms are now available in your residence to take your recovery to the next level.
The new yoga program, available for three to seven days, includes private sessions of hatha yoga, guided meditation, breathing exercises, signature massages, and energy treatments. Incorporating these into your ski holiday will improve your flexibility, particularly in the hamstrings and calf muscles, build strength in your core and other key muscle groups, and help you to ski more efficiently and experience less fatigue.
