April 20, 2023 - Go big or go home, they say. Why not do both? In our larger villas, from 3 to 10 bedrooms, both old souls and the young at heart can enjoy precious time together in a home-from-home, with each stay directly contributing to our sustainability fund.
There’s a story long told about a boy diligently picking up a starfish and placing it back in the ocean after the tide had washed it ashore. When questioned what difference it will make, the young boy smiled as he replied that it made a difference to that one.
Starfish have a big impact on the marine ecosystem and are considered a keystone species. Kelp forests, also recognized as the lungs of the ocean, are maintained by healthy starfish populations. Just as kelp forests cannot be preserved by one starfish, similarly the well-being of Earth cannot be achieved by one person doing everything perfectly. Instead, millions contribute by small, consistent actions that build up to bigger, long-lasting impacts.
Many of our guests have grown up with Six Senses. Having visited as a child, they often return with their partner or their own young family, with the children craving as much variety and adventure as the parents are seeking rest and relaxation. That’s why we make sure everyone, from your little ones to any plus-ones, enjoys precious moments together while also exploring our sustainability activities. You don’t just observe local ecologies or communities while you’re with us, you’re part of them, and you even help us give back to them through each property’s sustainability fund.
Extended family groups tend to need larger and connected rooms, and more opportunities to learn, explore and be together. In addition to space, everything you would expect from a Six Senses stay is included with our larger accommodations, such as priority in-room service and a dedicated Guest Experience Maker.
Nostradamus once said, “Ibiza will be Earth’s final refuge”. Maybe he had his eye on the split-level ten-bedroom The South Mansion at Six Senses Ibiza, complete with an open plan kitchen, spacious living room, ballroom, degustation room, and cinema. The garage and private parking lead to a separate and independent entrance, private pool, and private garden with a sunset terrace.
Situated right on the honeycomb cliff edge of Xarraca Bay, the four-level, five-bedroom Cliffhanger combines a traditional Finca aesthetic with all the modern comforts. Outside are multiple terraces for lounging, sun salutations and sundowners, including a rooftop and private pool.
Six Senses Douro Valley opens a range of new villa options for families seeking additional space. Featuring locally inspired architecture and furnishings, enhanced with an array of modern comforts and amenities, the one-bedroom and two-bedroom Pool Villas each have a fully appointed kitchen, separate dining and living areas, fireplace, and wine fridge. Outside, there’s a separate entrance, heated pool, and private sundeck with day beds overlooking the vineyard.
The property's original wine lodge is situated on the other side of the organic kitchen garden. This has been restored and converted into nine separate ensuite Valley Rooms and Suites. There is a large and spacious lounge area with a magnificent fireplace as the central element. It provides the perfect place for hosting convivial moments throughout the day, starting with a continental breakfast and coffee to greet sleepy heads before the morning activities get underway.
The two three-bedroom Retreats, built in a traditional Omani village style, are located at either end of the beach, overlooking the sea, and furnished with modern amenities. Inspired by the beauty of Zighy Bay, palm leaf and wicker designs are intricately crafted into the interiors. This makes them perfect for bringing the whole tribe or indulging in one’s own company.
The Beachfront Reserve is a true Arabian palace of wonders, the largest of its kind in the Middle East. It offers four separate villas serving as bedrooms within the enclave of the property and is located on the tip of Zighy Bay away from the main resort, on its own stretch of private beach. Along with a variety of separate living and dining areas for entertaining, groups can enjoy a self-sufficient vacation with a private spa suite, wine cellar, separate staff quarters, infinity swimming pool and playroom with oversized pool table, private cinema, and bar. You hardly need to leave the room if you don’t want to!
Sleeping nine guests, the three-bedroom Water Reserve perches right on the water’s edge of a private bay, facing west to the setting sun (imagine the sunsets). Inside is a split-level living area with a dining room on the ground floor and a living room on the upper floor that can be converted to a third bedroom with separate facilities. The master bedroom and second bedroom, both in separate buildings, have ensuite bathrooms that feature handmade wooden bathtubs and showers. An infinity-edge pool with a water slide also blends naturally with the horizon and surrounding boulders.
The world of Six Senses is constantly expanding. Six Senses Kanuhura will join the Six Senses family later this year and is happy to share the accolade of finest beaches and dive sites along with sister property Six Senses Laamu. Whether staying on the shore or perched on stilts over the tranquil lagoon, all accommodations offer a sophisticated yet charming style. With one to three bedrooms, villas offer flexible options for couples, families, and larger groups alike.
The Three Bedroom Beach Villa Suite With Pool is perfect for a family home-from-home in a tropical hideaway, offering privacy yet far-reaching views of the island’s turquoise lagoon. The spacious villa has an oversized bathtub and outdoor rainfall shower, private access to the beach, and a private pool. If you’re looking for an overwater family escape, the Two Bedroom Water Villa With Pool is the ultimate choice, featuring uninterrupted ocean views with the exception of a passing reef fish or turtle. Bonus features include a 37-square-meter private pool for the whole family to dive right in.
In addition to human hospitality, we provide homes for 10 species that are listed as endangered or critically endangered, including marine life (green and hawksbill turtles, ornate eagle rays, gray reef sharks, whale sharks, giant guitarfish, and Napoleon wrasses), land animals (Fijian crested iguanas and black-shanked douc langurs) and birdlife (Bali starlings) as we share our home called Earth.
