Live better, for longer

November 18, 2021 - “Thanks to breakthrough diagnostics and longevity treatments, we can slow the pace of aging and extend our healthspan,” says Dr. Tamsin Lewis, Medical Director of RoseBar at Six Senses Ibiza. Are you ready to defy the aging process?

There is already much we can do to stay in good shape, physically and mentally. However, what if we could go beyond diet or fitness and expand the difference between our literal years of life and biological age?

Six Senses Ibiza is launching a one-of-a-kind longevity center in collaboration with RoseBar in May 2022. Led by a world-class scientific advisory board, RoseBar is pioneering our understanding of how to live better, for longer, through science, spirituality and longevity.

Dr. Tamsin Lewis, RoseBar’s Medical Director, is already in Ibiza to help her clients understand their current pace of aging and what they need to do to slow it down. The process is collaborative, with a focus not just on recalibrating but also on coaching and supporting people.

The motivation behind the move

Dr. Tam comes to RoseBar with impressive credentials. She is a medical doctor having qualified with honors from King’s College London, a member of The Royal College of Psychiatrists, and a trustee of the British Society for Lifestyle Medicine. She has a BSc in Neuroscience and the Biology of Aging. She combines this expertise with her own experience as one of Britain’s most successful elite triathletes. Together, this informs her approach to optimal health management. It has also triggered her interest in measuring true health and improving quality of life, both in the present and as a predictive trajectory – our “healthspan”.

“After years of practicing medicine and working with people, you question what really makes people better,” she says. “I think you have to create a very safe environment with credible expertise to allow people to trust the insights, effectively de-robe, and reconstruct a better version of themselves. Both so that they feel better and function better now, and so they grow and evolve to create a state of human flourishing, the side effect of which is a greater healthspan and longevity.”

A humanistic approach, based on evidence

Her background in psychiatry and her own evidence gathered within the Ironman community, have led her to take a humanistic approach to her practice. Regardless of what breakthrough science or medicine can deliver, understanding human motivation is essential to influencing people to change their behavior, take control and improve their own health outcomes. When it comes to aging, our genes merely load the gun; it is our epigenetics, or environment and lifestyle, that pulls the trigger.

“I love the combination of science, spirituality and creation of longevity. I love the way that we can prove how the interventions and environment here are reducing your rate of aging on a real-time basis. The Ironman community provided insights into performance and how to optimize it. And more broadly, there is evidence that if you shift certain aspects of your diet, exercise, or hormones, you can move the needle on how well you perform. This can translate to anyone. The results play out over long term, but the effects can be seen immediately, as people start to look different, feel different and sleep better. They experience marked improvements in their libido, skin, strength, stress levels, and gut health. These all combine to increase their quality of life and functioning as they age and decelerate the rate of aging.”

Dr. Tam felt drawn to Ibiza and the community of Six Senses Ibiza. “Ibiza has a special energy to it. I didn’t really understand it until I got here and could feel it. There is incredible nature here, along with the opportunity for experiences that bring us out of our sympathetic system and into a state of awe and curiosity. It is why we have such a high rate of returning guests. They feel this energy and community. They feel seen, heard, and listened to, and this is what I love with this clinical practice in particular. We work together in collaboration, and this is where the magic happens.”

A clinical practice but not a clinical environment

The philosophy behind RoseBar is that while science shows us that it is possible to modify our biological age – or hack ourselves younger – longevity does not need to be served up in a clinical environment. RoseBar’s longevity programs are a holistic blend of science and spiritual work that can be integrated into your daily life or stay at Six Senses Ibiza. You can also access complementary wellness programming, group activities, and beautiful food and hospitality to amplify the benefits.

“Firstly, even though we’re working with the best biotech out there, the diagnostics, treatments and infusions are not carried out in a clinic in the traditional sense. And secondly, the clinical practice is not transactional. It is based on a relationship, which is where the transformation or change happens to shed ingrained behaviors. Preventative measures can be incorporated into everyday life to open and broaden the brain functioning, stop us from narrowing our repertoire, and decelerate our decline through physical movement, energy medicine, somatic healing, gut health, and community with people. If you look at the blue zones in the world or areas where people age better, all of those traits are there.”

Vision for the future

What emerges from RoseBar is personalized and actionable data that can be applied holistically and kindly to reverse engineer the aging process. It starts with a deep-dive investigation and analysis of your current state of health through a blood test, wellness screening to look at how well your body is working systemically, and epigenetics or lifestyle factors. The data is crunched through an AI tool to show how you are aging compared to your chronological tools.

This is where Dr. Tam taps into her extensive knowledge to analyze this data, taking into account your hormones, vitamins and minerals and immune system. She then puts together a personalized plan that can be carried out during your stay at Six Senses Ibiza, with tools to take home with you. The idea is to find the most frictionless way to bring you to new habits and behaviors that last a lifetime.

“Starting in earnest next spring, RoseBar will be a hub for longevity. Firstly, we offer high quality facilities and treatments, from red light therapy to Cellgym hyperbaric oxygen therapy which stimulates mitochondria, infrared sauna, cold exposure, and a personalized range of nutraceuticals (or medical grade supplements) and IV infusions that are right for you,” says Dr. Tam.

“Where RoseBar differentiates, is that it looks at the whole you and takes psychology and ultimately spirituality into account. We’ll have the opportunity to work with game-changing practitioners in the energy medicine space, for example. Where we hold tension or trauma in our bodies really impacts how we function as a system. We can hold the whole process within an amazing setting, with guests enjoying beautiful accommodation, the community here and the best organic food and nutrition. Incrementally, this will have a massive impact on people’s rate of aging.”

The age defying mix

Step 1. Assessment: Medical consultation, biomarker screening, epigenetic testing, hormonal evaluation, blood test and blood sugar monitoring, with AI technology used to reveal the true biological age and pace of aging.

Step 2. Diagnostics: Insights into optimizing health, performance, and function.

Step 3. Bespoke program: A mix of biohacking therapies, IV vitamin infusions, circadian rhythm training, nutritional plan and supplements, mindfulness and meditation, and energy medicine treatments.

Step 4. Follow up: A monthly coaching program for an ongoing comparative recalibration.
