Environmental and social responsibility is at the heart of the Six Senses approach. That’s why we join individuals, travel, and other companies in declaring a climate emergency and highlighting the seriousness of human impacts brought about by climate change. Many of these are disproportionately felt by communities in the global south and by younger and future generations.
Six Senses is privileged to welcome our guests to many beautiful coastal and tropical locations. 92 percent of our hosts are hired locally, and many come from surrounding communities. These same locations are facing the most severe impacts of climate change. We all have a personal responsibility but as a brand we are focused on local projects where our investments to help preserve natural areas and support communities are designed to make a net-positive impact.
We also see our guests as part of the solution as a percentage of all revenue is given over directly to funding local community and wildlife programs.
The work we do to strengthen our local communities with improved health care, education, and access to clean drinking water is as important as ever, helping build resilience and climate adaptation. We must also do more to limit the greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change and future impacts on communities.
