The call of the wild

Shake a tail feather on our dedicated bird trail at Six Senses Kaplankaya, Bodrum

As the seasons shift, it’s the perfect time to reflect on how our lives align with the natural world. This fall, swap dull, gray skies for Bodrum’s lush beauty and mild, sun-splashed temperatures at Six Senses Kaplankaya, our birdlife-rich resort on the Aegean coast.

They say birds of a feather flock together, and that proves to be the case when you take a stroll along our dedicated bird trail. The path is alive and chirping with numerous bird species, including heron, egret, warbler, wagtail, and greenfinch, creating a captivating and melodious connection with nature.

Follow the signs and QR codes to discover more about each species as the trail winds through diverse habitats for local and visiting birds. From the melodies of songbirds to the majestic flight of raptors, fill your morning with vibrant colors and sweet sounds.

Embracing a few moments of connection with nature’s rhythms can serve as a reminder that, just as nature is cyclical, so too can our own lives find renewal through the simple act of stepping outside.

Snorkeling, surf breaks, iguana spotting, and St Nick at Six Senses Fiji

As the days become shorter across the northern hemisphere, Six Senses Fiji basks in a warming extra hour of sunlight. With direct flights from the USA, what will you do with the precious extra time? Perhaps embark on an over-and-underwater sea adventure, go iguana spotting in the protected forest, or take a stroll along our well-maintained nature trails.

The Mamanuca islands form a marine environment blessed with colorful corals and an abundance of sea life so dive underwater and visit our coral nurseries.

Fiji’s waters also feature renowned, world-class surf breaks. Because they can be as intimidating as they are thrilling, we offer Surf Spectating, an experience that takes you into the eye of the wave without donning a wetsuit or even getting your toes wet. Our comfortable boat journey cruises to all the famous breaks where you can watch the pros in action and spot turtles and dolphins along the way.

Our protected native forest provides a home to more than 40 critically endangered Fijian Crested Iguanas. How many can you spot on a gentle stroll through the resort?

Fijian festivities under the sun

Spend the festive season with warm sunshine and locals and hosts dressed up in all their finery for the special occasion: men in sulus, pressed shirts and ties, and women in traditional moo moo dresses.

Seasonal sprigs, solar power, and shy monkeys at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay in Vietnam

Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, accessible only by boat, looks out to the East Vietnam Sea from a dramatic bay. Arrive to impressive rock formations, a white sand beach, and towering mountains, creating the perfect illusion of a remote island. Surrounded by nature, you'll feel far from the daily hustle and ready to embrace calm and serenity.

With the changing seasons, there couldn’t be a better moment to reflect on the passage of time, your relationship with the sun, and the cycle of life through our on-resort activities.

Discovered by the team in 2021, and officially named Six Senses Turmeric, fall is the best season to spot a profusion of white and yellow flowers sprinkled across the forested areas of the resort. A member of the ginger family, curcumin (the main active ingredient in turmeric) has been used for thousands of years as a spice and a medicinal aid and is known to have many health benefits.

Additional excursions Into Wildlife include a popular hike to learn about forest life and how we are protecting a troop of critically endangered monkeys (black-shanked douc langurs). Their numbers are growing year on year thanks to habitat protection and our deeper understanding of their diet and behaviors.

A journey like no other: Elephant Mountain at Six Senses Con Dao in Vietnam

Discover the untamed beauty of Elephant Mountain at Six Senses Con Dao, where nature meets the ocean's edge. Once inaccessible, this majestic peak now invites the adventurous to explore its mighty heights.

Your hike will take you along the contours of the elephant’s trunk, before crossing its broad shoulders, and descending along its belly. Along the way, you'll be treated to hidden bays, lush forests, and an array of unique flora and fauna that make this region truly vibrant. For those seeking a gentler introduction, try the House Peak Hiking experience.

Hug a tree as you wander along historic forest trails at Six Senses Douro Valley in Portugal

Surrounding Six Senses Douro Valley, the ancient forest of the Vale de Abraão estate blends natural beauty and centuries-old charm. Expanded in the 1800s, the forest features winding paths, hidden tunnels, scenic viewpoints, and an ingenious irrigation system that feeds waterfalls, fountains, and ponds.

Home to a diverse array of trees, including cedars, oaks, and spruces, the forest offers dedicated meditation areas. As you can imagine, the woods are rich in biodiversity and support abundant bird and wildlife for you to spot. Recognized as “Historical Gardens of Portugal” in 2019, this tranquil arboretum invites you to explore and reflect as you connect with both nature and history.

How you help every time you stay

Every Six Senses property and resort manages a Sustainability Fund comprising 0.5 percent of total hotel revenue. Your bookings and soft toy mascot purchases go directly into the fund that backs a variety of meaningful local initiatives, many of which support precious wildlife and their habitats.

Group-wide in 2023, an additional 16,630,000 square meters of habitat was designated as protected area, bringing the total to 49,608,708 square meters (almost 50 square kilometers). This includes coral reefs, mangroves, seagrass, temperate and tropical forest, and desert. We also monitored 15,002 individual animals within our wildlife projects, including Endangered and Critically endangered species; and counted a whopping 12,529 endangered sea turtles hatch on our beaches, including 4,364 hawksbill and 8,165 green turtles.

We couldn’t do it without you, so thank you, and if you’d like to find out more head over to our dedicated Sustainability page.
